Yield: About 1 quart
Cook’s notes: When an ice-cream craving hits, this recipe can soothe it fast. Should you want to add anything chunky, start with 1/2 cup, adding it about 5 minutes before the ice cream is done, and work up as desired. That fills out the ice cream more than you might think. Possible additions: toasted coconut, cinnamon chips, mini chocolate chips, chopped graham crackers, chopped oatmeal cookies, chopped snickerdoodles, pecans or walnuts.
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole or 2 percent milk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Whisk all ingredients together until sugar is dissolved. Freeze according to your ice cream maker’s directions. Serve immediately or store in freezer.
